Our School Council
At Wittersham Church of England Primary School, the School Council is a central part of our student leadership team, with representatives from Reception through to Year 6. The council meets weekly to discuss and develop provisions across the school, from enhancing classroom resources and facilities to shaping the overall school environment. A key part of their role is gathering feedback and suggestions from all students, ensuring that every voice is heard.
The School Council is also responsible for developing and refining the school menu choices and lunchtime clubs, working to ensure that these are inclusive and meet the needs and interests of all pupils. Each week, the council members run a Class Council in their respective classrooms, where they gather ideas, concerns, and feedback from their peers. These views are then discussed at the School Council meetings, making sure that the decisions made reflect the diverse opinions of the entire school community.
By engaging in these activities, the School Council not only helps to improve the day-to-day experience for all students, but also provides them with the opportunity to take ownership of their school, develop leadership skills, and contribute positively to school life. Through their work, they help maintain a dynamic, responsive, and inclusive environment where every child’s opinion matters.
